Paju, Korea - Thriston Lawrence cemented his status as the king of the Swiss mountains on Sunday, capturing his third Omega European Masters title at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club following a four-hole sudden-death play-off with England’s Paul Casey.
Beginning the final round six shots behind Casey, the 29-year-old South African fired a flawless eight-under-par 62 featuring eight birdies to set the clubhouse target at 18-under 262. Casey, who held a one-shot lead on the 72nd hole, bogey-flagged the 18th to sign for a 68, forcing extra holes.
The pair matched pars on their first three trips back down the 18th hole before Lawrence drained a birdie putt on the fourth play-off hole to seal his six career DP World Tour title and successfully defend his 2025 crown.
With the victory, Lawrence joins legendary Spanish icon Seve Ballesteros as the only players to win the European Masters three times since it became part of the DP World Tour schedule in 1972. The $625,000 winner’s check also elevates him to 21st in the 2026 Race to Dubai Rankings.
“It’s just the best feeling in the world, honestly,” Lawrence said. “To share three titles here with Seve—a legend I’ve always admired—is unbelievable. I knew I had a low round in me today, and I just had to believe in myself and give it everything.”
England’s Harry Hall finished solo third at 17-under par after closing with a 63, while Austrian Bernd Wiesberger, Italy’s Francesco Laporta, and Spanish trio Eugenio Chacarra, Angel Ayora, and Angel Hidalgo tied for fourth at 16-under. Swiss fan favorite Joel Girrbach posted a final-round 65 to share ninth alongside 2024 champion Matt Wallace at 14-under par.
