Song-Am Amateur Championship begins in Gyeongsan
Rising stars and defending champions eye glory at Daegu Country Club
Las Vegas - The 32nd Song-Am Amateur Golf Championship tees off on 19 August at Daegu Country Club’s Middle and East Courses in Gyeongsan, running through 22 August with 176 competitors.
Eighty-eight men and 88 women will battle over 72 holes of stroke play, with the top 48 from each field advancing after 36 holes. Trophies, scholarships and prizes await the leading five finishers, while the champions will also receive 600 KGA ranking points.
Defending champions Jae Won Lee, a national squad member from Korea National Sport University, and high school standout A Jin Sung are both in the field, each chasing a rare repeat. They will be joined by fellow national representatives including Seung Goo Kang, Min Soo Kim, Sung Hyun Ahn, Min Hyuk Yoo and Soo Min Hong.
Founded in 1994 to honour the late Woo Je Bong, the pioneering Daegu Country Club founder and former honorary chairman, the Song-Am has long been a proving ground for Korean golf. Its past champions include legends and current stars such as Se Ri Pak, Inbee Park, Jin Young Ko, Sungjae Im, Si Woo Kim, Hyo Joo Kim and Byeong Hun An.
With valuable ranking points and national team selection implications for 2026 at stake, this week promises a spirited contest on one of the country’s most storied stages.
