Snedeker and Ogilvy to Captain 2026 Presidents Cup in Medinah Showdown
American grit meets Aussie guile as the Cup heads to Chicago's storied Course #3
Seoul, Korea - Brandt Snedeker and Geoff Ogilvy will lead the U.S. and International Teams, respectively, into battle at the 2026 Presidents Cup, set for Medinah Country Club’s famed Course #3 from September 22 to 27.
Snedeker, 44, steps into the captain’s role after years of team-room experience, including playing in the 2013 Presidents Cup and two Ryder Cups, and serving as a vice captain for the upcoming 2025 edition. “Representing my country has always meant the world to me,” he said. “I’ll bring everything I’ve got to make sure our guys are prepared for the fight at Medinah.”
The Nashville native’s CV includes nine PGA TOUR victories and a FedExCup title, but perhaps more relevant is his 2024 Payne Stewart Award — a nod to the character and leadership he'll bring to the role.
Facing him will be 2006 U.S. Open champion Geoff Ogilvy, a wily match-play tactician with a 7-6-1 record as a Presidents Cup competitor. The 47-year-old Australian has also played a key role behind the scenes, assisting in the last four editions of the event.
Ogilvy’s appointment is laced with symbolism — not only was he a part of the International side’s post-2019 culture shift under Ernie Els, but his design firm OCM oversaw a sweeping renovation of Medinah’s Course #3. “That course is special to me,” he said. “It’s an honour to lead our team there, and I believe we’ll be more united than ever.”
The 2026 edition promises to be one of the most compelling in recent memory: a classic American venue, two respected captains, and a global game ready to put on a show.
