PGA of America appoints Terry Clark as chief executive officer
Board turns to seasoned marketing leader with deep golf ties to guide the Association’s next chapter
The PGA of America has appointed Terry Clark as its chief executive officer, effective March 2, with Kerry Haigh continuing as interim CEO until Clark assumes the role following the Board’s decision announced today.
Clark has served as an independent director on the PGA of America Board since 2024 and joins the Association from UnitedHealth Group, where he most recently held the role of chief marketing officer for the Fortune 3 company.
His career includes senior leadership positions at IAC/InterActiveCorp as executive vice president for Entertainment Publications, working across consumer and digital brands such as Ticketmaster, Expedia, Hotels.com and LendingTree.
“Terry has earned the Board’s trust through years of disciplined leadership, sound judgment, and a deep respect for the PGA of America, our Members, and our mission,” said Nathan Charnes, the Association’s vice president, who is in line to become president in November.
Clark brings long-standing involvement in golf, having led Optum’s enterprise sponsorship as a partner of THE PLAYERS Championship and worked closely with professional golf leadership, tournament teams, broadcast partners and major golf media platforms including Golf Channel and NBC.
“Golf is a game with a rare and enduring impact on individuals, families, and communities, and the PGA of America sits at the centre of that influence,” Clark said, adding that his focus will be on strengthening culture, supporting Members and PGA of America Golf Professionals, and elevating major championships and marquee events.
His appointment follows Derek Sprague’s decision to step down as CEO to spend more time with his family, with Sprague remaining involved with the PGA of America in his role as a PGA Past President.
