Park Bo-kyum Claims Victory at KLPGA 2025 Season Opener
Seoul, Korea - Park Bo-kyum has started the 2025 KLPGA season with a victory, winning the Blue Canyon Ladies Championship in Phuket, Thailand. She secured the title on 16 March with a final score of 16-under-par 272, marking her first win of the season.
This victory extends her streak of winning at least one tournament per year for three consecutive seasons, following her triumphs at the 2023 Kyochon Ladies Open and the 2024 SangSangin·Hankyung Wownet Open. Reflecting on her achievement, Park expressed her gratitude, saying, "I am thankful to have won right from the season opener. This tournament proved that all the hard work I put in during pre-season training was the right approach."
Park identified the 12th hole as the decisive moment in her final round. "My 3-wood tee shot went left, which put me in a tough spot," she explained. "But my second shot was excellent, and I managed to finish with a great putt. From that point onwards, I was able to gain momentum." A crucial 10-metre birdie putt on this hole helped her maintain her position at the top of the leaderboard.
A key challenge arose on the 17th hole, where her tee shot found the bunker while she held a one-stroke lead. "I wasn’t aware I was only one shot ahead," she admitted. "But I had encountered the same situation in the second round, so I wasn’t too worried. Having already studied the bunker conditions on this course, I played with confidence." She successfully saved par and held her advantage until the final hole, securing victory with another par on the 18th.
Following her win, Park reiterated her season-long goal. "I aimed to win at least once this year, and I have already achieved that," she said. "Now, I will continue working towards another win, step by step." She emphasised that she prefers setting realistic goals to avoid feeling overwhelmed. "I don’t set overly ambitious targets—I stick to at least one win per season. Today, I was reminded again how difficult winning can be, but I will continue to give my best."
During the trophy presentation, Park expressed her gratitude towards her team and sponsors. "This year, I joined Samchully and trained with them for the first time. The excellent environment played a big role in this victory," she said. "Winning my first tournament in the company’s 70th anniversary year makes it even more special."
