Paratore's Perfect Finish in Abu Dhabi
Italian maestro secures thrilling back-to-back HotelPlanner Tour victories
Seoul, Korea - Renato Paratore made it two wins in as many weeks, masterfully carding a final-round 66 to clinch the Abu Dhabi Challenge at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club, and cap a stunning Middle Eastern fortnight.
Fresh off his triumph at the UAE Challenge, the spirited Italian started Sunday just one stroke behind overnight leader Garrick Porteous. Swift birdies at the fifth and seventh holes set the momentum, placing him firmly in contention.
Despite two bogeys amidst three birdies on a testing back nine, Paratore remained resolute. Knowing exactly what was needed as he approached the final hole, the 28-year-old displayed nerves of steel, reaching the par-five 18th green in two elegant strokes and sealing victory with a composed two-putt.
"I feel amazing," Paratore beamed post-round. "To finish with two birdies in the final four holes is fantastic. Coming off last week's win gave me confidence, but today was challenging with so many players contending."
He added with a knowing smile, "My second shot on 18 had to be perfect—and when I saw the ball flight, it was exactly right. It felt incredible."
Paratore finished on 17-under-par, edging out Scotsman David Law—who dazzled with a final-round 61—and Spain's Sebastian Garcia by just one shot.
This second consecutive victory propels Paratore up five places to second on the Road to Mallorca Rankings. With a well-deserved two-week break ahead, he'll next tee it up at the Challenge de España in May, carrying enviable form and a surge of confidence.
