Noora Komulainen claims emotional playoff victory at Tipsport Czech Ladies Open
Finnish veteran seals long-awaited maiden Ladies European Tour title in dramatic three-way sudden-death thriller
Veteran Finnish golfer Noora Komulainen secured her first Ladies European Tour victory after a dramatic three-way playoff at the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open on Sunday.
The 35-year-old birdied her final four holes at Royal Beroun Golf Club to card a six-under-par 66, matching Justice Bosio and Lisa Pettersson at 18-under par before striking a decisive wedge shot to six feet in sudden death.
“I’ve been on tour for 14 years without a win,” said Komulainen, who was greeted on the 18th green by her caddie husband Roope and their five-year-old daughter Elli. “This is my first one so it means everything.”
The tournament reached a thrilling conclusion in Czechia as Australia’s Justice Bosio fired a brilliant eight-under-par 64 to force the playoff, while Daniela Darquea of Ecuador claimed fifth with a career-low 63.
The breakthrough victory, coming in her 199th tour start, elevates Komulainen to ninth place in the 2026 Order of Merit standings, which continue to be led by South Africa’s Casandra Alexander.
