Neergaard-Petersen enjoying home comforts at Danish Golf Championship
Hometown hero relishes return to familiar fairways with DP World Tour glory at stake
Las Vegas - Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen will draw on more than a decade of local knowledge when he tees off at the Danish Golf Championship at Furesø Golf Klub, his home course north of Copenhagen.
The 26-year-old, made an Honorary Member of the club last year after topping the HotelPlanner Tour’s Road to Mallorca Rankings, faces a strong home contingent including Nicolai and Rasmus Højgaard, Thorbjørn Olesen and defending Betfred British Masters champion Niklas Nørgaard.
“I started here very young… I never thought we’d have a DP World Tour event right in my back garden,” said Neergaard-Petersen. “It’s quite special… I’ll try and soak it all in and enjoy it.”
This week’s field also features 2018 winner Matt Wallace, defending champion Frederic Lacroix, Major winner Francesco Molinari and Danish great Thomas Bjørn, alongside Lucas Bjerregaard, Jeff Winther and 2024 Amateur Champion Jacob Skov Olesen.
With the $2.75 million prize fund and Ryder Cup qualification closing next week, home pride and major career incentives ensure a compelling contest on the intimate Furesø layout.
