List and Boneta Blaze Trail in Beroun
Australian and Spaniard share the lead after stunning opening rounds in Czech Challenge
Las Vegas - Danny List and Albert Boneta ignited the D+D REAL Czech Challenge on Thursday, carding matching eight-under-par 62s to set the pace at Royal Beroun Golf Club.
List, 27, sparked his round with five birdies on the front nine, then shook off a bogey on 13 with a dazzling eagle-birdie run late on, delighting the early gallery. “I wasn’t happy coming off 13 but managed to pick up some shots at 14 and 15 before driving the green at 16,” said List. “The putter was hot, and it was enjoyable.”
Boneta, starting on the back nine, showed patience early but caught fire with seven birdies in his final eight holes, including back-to-back twos to close. “The putts finally started dropping,” said the 23-year-old Spaniard, who needed just 27 strokes on the homeward stretch. “I kept hitting good shots and it ended up good.”
Denmark’s Christian Jacobsen sits just one shot back after a 63, while a pack of seven players – including Scotland’s Euan Walker and Ryan Lumsden – lurk two shots off the pace at six under. The second round begins Friday at 7.30am, with List set for an afternoon tee time and Boneta off in the morning.
Round two promises more fireworks in Beroun, with both leaders eager to build on their blistering starts and fend off the chasing pack in what already feels like a shootout in Czechia.
