KGA Holds Education Camp for 2026 National Team and Reserve Squad
Two-day programme in Seoul features advice from Olympic champion Park In-bee and prepares Korea’s leading amateurs for the upcoming season.
The Korea Golf Association (KGA) held an educational camp for its 2026 national team and reserve squad from March 7–8 at the Berlin Hall, Seoul Olympic Parktel, in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
The first day began with the presentation of appointment certificates and included sessions on mindset and mental preparation, operational regulations and the KGA ranking system, media training, sports human rights, anti-doping education, golf rules and personal development.
A highlight of the programme was a special session titled Conversation with a Senior National Team Player, which ran from 3.10pm to 4.30pm and featured Korean golf legend Park In-bee.
Park, who won 21 titles on the LPGA Tour including seven major championships, also captured the gold medal at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. She currently serves as a board member and administrative committee member of the International Golf Federation (IGF), representing the KGA.
Speaking to the young players, Park urged them to remain humble despite their success.
“You must not become complacent,” she said. “When I turned professional, I believed I would not lose to anyone. But once I reached the professional stage, I realised that the best players from all over the world were there.
“Confidence is good, but you should never become arrogant. You may be the best here, but outside you may not be.”
She also encouraged the players to embrace challenges and not fear failure.
“You must not be afraid of failure. I hope you give everything you have. Challenge yourself and learn through failure until there is nothing left that you want to try,” she said.
The second day of the camp included technical and performance-focused sessions such as golf training, a biomechanical approach to the golf swing, guidance on medication misuse and consumption, self-directed injury care, and putter fitting and selection.
The 2026 national team and reserve squad were selected through the KGA ranking system. The national team consists of six men and six women, while the reserve squad includes 10 male and 10 female players.
The men’s national team comprises Kang Seung-gu (Namsung High School, Year 2), Kim Min-su (Howon High School Affiliated Broadcasting School, Year 3), Park Geon-ung (Korea National Sport University, Year 1), Son Je-i (Dongrae High School Affiliated Broadcasting School, Year 1), Ahn Hae-cheon (Korea National Sport University, Year 2) and Yoo Min-hyeok (Seogang High School, Year 3).
The women’s national team includes Gu Min-ji (Korea National Sport University, Year 1), Kim Gyu-bin (Haksan Girls’ High School, Year 2), Park Seo-jin (Seomun Girls’ High School, Year 3), Yang Yunseo (Incheon Girls’ High School Affiliated Broadcasting School, Year 3), Oh Su-min (Shinseong High School, Year 3) and Yoon Gyu-ri (Haksan Girls’ High School, Year 1).
The new amateur season will begin with the 4th Imsil Cheese Amateur Golf Championship, scheduled to take place from April 7–10 at Jeonju Shangri-La Country Club in Imsil County, North Jeolla Province.
