Huang shines again with second LET win in as many weeks
Seoul, South Korea - Sixteen-year-old Anna Huang cemented her place as one of the rising stars of the Ladies European Tour after capturing the Lacoste Ladies Open de France at Golf Barrière with a final-round 65 to win by two strokes.
The Canadian rookie, who triumphed at last week’s La Sella Open, became the first Canadian to win twice on the LET and only the third player this season to clinch back-to-back titles. She moves from 22nd to ninth in the Order of Merit.
“I’m honestly just so shocked right now,” Huang said. “I never imagined this would ever happen. Firstly, I won last week and then this week, to have two wins in a year is absolutely incredible.”
Huang began the day in front and stretched her lead with early birdies on the first and second before rolling in more at the fifth, eighth and 10th. Germany’s Helen Briem fought hard to keep pace, drawing level at times, but Huang’s closing birdies on the 16th and 18th sealed the title at 16-under-par.
“It was super fun to play with Helen and we were going back and forth the whole round,” Huang added. “The nerves started hitting me on 18, but I’m proud of how I finished.” She now plans to visit family in China before resuming her season.
Briem and South Africa’s Casandra Alexander shared second at 14-under, while American rookie Brianna Navarrosa produced the round of the week with a sparkling 63 to finish fourth. India’s Pranavi Urs, Australia’s Kirsten Rudgeley and Italy’s Alessia Nobilio tied fifth on 10-under.
The LET Order of Merit remains led by England’s Mimi Rhodes, but Huang’s rapid rise highlights her growing stature with the season heading to India for the Hero Women’s Indian Open in October.
