Home Soil, Heavy Hopes: Henseleit Ready for the Roar in Hamburg
Germany’s Olympic silver medallist and Solheim Cup star Esther Henseleit returns to the LET stage aiming for a special week at the 2025 Amundi German Masters.
Las Vegas - Esther Henseleit, Germany’s leading female golfer and Olympic silver medallist, tees off Thursday morning at Green Eagle Golf Courses in Hamburg for her long-awaited return to the Amundi German Masters – her first appearance since 2022.
The 26-year-old, who has become a national sports figure following her silver-medal finish at the 2024 Paris Olympics and her selection for Team Europe in the Solheim Cup, will look to deliver a performance worthy of her stature in front of a supportive home crowd. The tournament is being played in Hamburg for the first time after a three-year stint in Berlin.
“I’ve not played in Germany for a couple of years now, so it’s great to be here this week and I’m really looking forward to it,” said Henseleit. “It’s fun to be that person who can inspire the younger generation to pick up golf. I hope I can help the game grow in Germany.”
Henseleit, who now plies her trade primarily on the LPGA Tour, has put together a consistent 2025 season, including a runner-up finish at the Black Desert Championship and top-25 finishes in all three majors so far. She currently sits 21st in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
“This year has been really solid,” she said. “Every part of my game is working well. I’m still waiting for that one special week where it all comes together — maybe this week is the one.”
The tournament’s new venue, the North Course at Green Eagle, is one Henseleit knows, having played in a DP World Tour Pro-Am here previously. Known as the "Green Monster," the course stretches long and soft, with wind expected to add to the challenge.
“It’s very long, but the par-5s offer some chances,” she added. “I always enjoy tougher courses. It’s not a given birdie or par on every hole, and I like the challenge.”
Henseleit begins her campaign at 8.13am local time on Thursday, paired with Ireland’s Lauren Walsh and Singapore’s Shannon Tan. A win this week would mark her third LET title — and the most meaningful yet, on home turf.
