Gyolim Seo surges to World No. 45 after stunning secondary KLPGA crown at The Heaven
The reigning Rookie of the Year secures her second victory in three weeks, joining Minsol Kim as the only multiple winners of the 2026 season.
Paju, Korea - Rising star Gyolim Seo has rocketed into the top 50 of the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, climbing 21 places to a career-high World No. 45 following her dominant performance at the Inka Financial The Heaven Masters on Sunday.
The 20-year-old produced a clinical display at The Heaven Country Club’s West and South courses, firing a brilliant three-round total of 16-under-par 200 to secure a commanding victory and claim the lucrative 10 billion won championship.
“To get my second win so quickly after breaking through earlier this month is an unbelievable feeling,” said Seo, who captured her maiden professional title at the Celltrion Queens Masters on June 7. “I wanted to prove that my rookie season was just the beginning, and I am incredibly proud of how my game held up under pressure.”
The victory completes a stunning redemption arc for the sophomore sensation. While Seo comfortably captured the coveted KLPGA Tour Rookie of the Year honors in 2025, she was often weighed down by the bittersweet tag of being a “winless rookie champion.” Her explosive 2026 campaign has thoroughly shattered that narrative, allowing her to join major champion Minsol Kim as the only multiple winners on the domestic circuit this season.
Seo’s meteoric rise is mirrored in her world ranking trajectory. She began her rookie campaign in 2025 ranked a distant 740th globally, fought her way to 106th by the end of the year, and has now scaled the elite upper echelons of the sport in a matter of months.
While global heavyweights Nelly Korda, Jeeno Thitikul, and Hyo-Joo Kim held firm in the top three positions, the LPGA Tour’s stop in Michigan triggered significant movement across the board.
Japan’s Miyu Yamashita edged up to World No. 7 following her clinical triumph at the Meijer LPGA Classic, while English phenom Lottie Woad climbed to fifth after her runner-up finish. Further down the standings, Korea’s Minji Kang enjoyed the biggest standard leap of the week, skyrocketing 39 places to 146th on the back of her breakout top-five finish at Blythefield Country Club.
