Gumberg seals wire-to-wire triumph in Hainan
American edges Campillo in tense Mission Hills finish to claim second DP World Tour title
Paju, Korea - Jordan Gumberg secured a one-shot victory at the 2026 Hainan Classic presented by MAEXTRO at Mission Hills Haikou, closing with a 70 to finish 19 under par.
The American, who retained his card with a dramatic eagle in Korea last October, held off Jorge Campillo in a final-round duel, maintaining composure as birdie chances slipped away late.
“I don’t have words right now. After last year’s ending of the season, this is amazing,” said Gumberg. “It was a nail-biter to the end, I’m really happy I came out on top.”
Campillo applied pressure throughout, briefly leading after the eighth before back-to-back bogeys. Marcus Armitage and Adrian Otaegui reached 16 and 15 under respectively, while Wenyi Ding faded after double-bogeys.
Gumberg, whose first title came in 2024, credited experience and support from his caddie and wife, adding: “You’ve just got to wait for your weeks… I think I’ve matured.”
