Paju, Korea - Scotland’s Grant Forrest returns to Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeenshire this week aiming to make history as he defends his title at the $3,000,000 Nexo Championship.
Victory for the 33-year-old would see him match Major Champion Paul Lawrie as only the second Scot to capture three DP World Tour titles on home soil. Forrest, who captured his maiden tour title at the 2021 Hero Open at Fairmont St Andrews before securing a four-stroke victory over Joe Dean at Trump International last summer, joins Colin Montgomerie and Robert MacIntyre as two-time home winners.
“It’s great to be back with so many happy memories from last year,” said Forrest, who returns to action following a five-week break to undergo sinus surgery. “I love playing golf in Scotland. Both of my wins have been here, so there must be something to it. The course is in immaculate condition, and with an opposing wind direction compared to last year, it feels like a completely different test, but I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
Forrest faces a formidable challenge from a strong field headlined by Race to Dubai leader Patrick Reed. The World No. 32 returns for his first DP World Tour appearance since The Open, beginning a stretch of five consecutive events as he seeks to solidify his position atop the season-long standings. Reed prepared for tournament action on Wednesday by playing in the pro-am alongside tennis icons Sir Andy Murray, Judy Murray, and Jamie Murray.
The 15-player Scottish contingent also features Aberdeen local David Law and Global Amateur Pathway Ranking winner Cameron Adam, who set a new course record at last week’s Danish Golf Championship to earn a $3,000,000 event debut on home soil.
Serving as the 31st event of the 2026 Race to Dubai, the Nexo Championship marks the fifth and final event of the DP World Tour’s “Closing Swing.” Up for grabs are 3,500 Race to Dubai points along with crucial exemptions into the upcoming “Back 9” phase and the Rolex Series BMW PGA Championship.
