Fleetwood and Lowry headline star-studded Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship
Ryder Cup heroes to launch DP World Tour Play-Offs at Yas Links
Dubai, UAE - European Ryder Cup heroes Tommy Fleetwood and Shane Lowry will spearhead a world-class field at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship from November 6-9 at Yas Links, marking the opening event of the DP World Tour Play-Offs on Yas Island.
They join Masters Champion Rory McIlroy and fellow 2025 Ryder Cup teammates Ludvig Åberg, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tyrrell Hatton, Rasmus Højgaard, Robert MacIntyre, and vice captain Alex Noren for the 20th edition of the tournament, staged by Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the DP World Tour.
Fleetwood arrives in the UAE in scintillating form after capturing the DP World India Championship last week with a closing 65, his eighth DP World Tour title. It capped a career-defining season for the Englishman, who also claimed his first PGA TOUR victory at the TOUR Championship in August, securing the FedExCup in the process.
“It’s always special to play at home in the UAE and the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship is a tournament I look forward to every year,” said Fleetwood, who has lived in Dubai since 2022. “Yas Links is a great golf course and the atmosphere is always incredible. Starting the Play-Offs in front of family and friends gives me that extra bit of motivation to finish the season on a high.”
Lowry, who clinched the crucial half-point to retain the Ryder Cup for Europe at Bethpage Black, will be hoping to replicate his 2019 triumph in Abu Dhabi – a victory that preceded his Open Championship success at Royal Portrush later that year. “Abu Dhabi has always been a great place to play golf and I’m really looking forward to being back at Yas Links,” he said. “The Play-Offs are always an exciting end to our season, and it’s great to compete against some of the best players in the world.”
The top 70 players on the Race to Dubai Rankings will contest the event, with the top 50 advancing to the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai. Fans can attend the opening two days free of charge, while tickets for the weekend start at AED 100. Premium hospitality and Bar on Nine experiences are also available for those seeking an elevated view of the action.
