Fireballs GC Ignite Future with Signing of Spanish Phenom Josele Ballester
21-year-old U.S. Amateur champion set for professional debut at LIV Golf Virginia alongside mentor Sergio Garcia
Paju, Korea - Fireballs GC have lit the fuse on a new era of Spanish golf with the signing of top amateur Josele Ballester, who will make his professional debut this week at LIV Golf Virginia presented by Maaden.
The 21-year-old from Castellón joins the team on a multi-year deal, stepping directly into a star-studded roster captained by his long-time mentor and fellow Castellón native, Sergio Garcia.
“We are very excited about Josele joining the team,” said Garcia. “He’s like family to us. I’ve known him since he first picked up a club and he’s worked with my father, Victor, as his coach. He’ll be a huge asset not only to the Fireballs but to the whole LIV League.”
Ballester’s amateur credentials are as glittering as they come – a World Amateur Ranking of No. 6, wins at the 2024 U.S. Amateur, 2023 European Amateur and the 2020 Spanish Amateur. He also adds another name to LIV Golf’s growing list of Arizona State alumni, joining the likes of Jon Rahm, Phil Mickelson and Paul Casey.
“I’m incredibly grateful to my family, coaches, friends and Arizona State for believing in me,” Ballester said. “Joining Fireballs GC is a dream – and to learn from Sergio is the best start I could imagine.”
This week’s LIV event in Virginia will also see Luis Masaveu continue to feature for Fireballs as a reserve, replacing David Puig, who remains sidelined after a back injury sustained during LIV Golf Korea. Puig, who showed remarkable resilience to play through pain and make the cut at the PGA Championship, is expected to return later this season.
As Ballester takes the first swing of his professional journey, the Fireballs now boast not only proven firepower but emerging flair – a potent mix in their chase for the 2025 team title.
