Dustin Johnson and Joaquin Niemann Set for Final-Round Showdown at LIV Golf Singapore
Seoul, Korea – Dustin Johnson and Joaquin Niemann are poised for a thrilling final-round battle at LIV Golf Singapore presented by Aramco, three seasons after their first dramatic duel.
Niemann, captain of Torque GC, fired the low round of the day with a 7-under 64, while Johnson, captain of 4Aces GC, followed up his opening 63 with a 3-under 68. Both players sit at 11 under, holding a three-shot lead over their nearest competitors.
In the team competition, 4Aces GC leads by five strokes over Phil Mickelson’s HyFlyers GC, with Sergio Garcia’s Fireballs GC in third place, eight shots behind.
Johnson & Niemann: A Rivalry Renewed
Sunday will mark the first time Johnson and Niemann share the lead entering the final round since Niemann made his LIV Golf debut in Boston in 2022, where Johnson won with a dramatic eagle putt in a playoff that included the Chilean star.
“I still remember that day,” Niemann said. “It was my first week on LIV. DJ and I both got it going, and I felt like I had the lead for a while. Then he birdied back and made that amazing putt in the playoff.”
Both players have since become LIV Golf standouts, with three individual titles each, along with multiple team victories.
“It’s always fun playing with DJ,” Niemann added. “I’m excited for tomorrow.”
Chasing Pack Eyes Breakthrough Victory
Four players are tied for third place at 8 under, all seeking their first LIV Golf win:
Sebastián Muñoz (Torque GC) – Continued his strong season with a 3-under 68, placing him inside the top five for the eighth time in 11 rounds this year.
Lucas Herbert (Ripper GC) – Carded a 5-under 66, remaining his team’s best performer this season.
Jason Kokrak (Smash GC) – Shot 66 and hopes to join teammates Talor Gooch (2023) and Brooks Koepka (2024) as past Singapore champions.
Cameron Tringale (HyFlyers GC) – Posted a second consecutive 67 to lead his team’s charge.
“We all just want it so bad,” Tringale said. “We want to prove that we’re a legitimate team. There’s no reason we can’t do it.”
4Aces GC Aims to End 22-Tournament Drought
Once the dominant force in LIV Golf—winning five events, including the Team Championship, in 2022—4Aces GC has now gone 22 consecutive tournaments without a win.
“The competition is so good out here,” Johnson said. “Winning as a team is really tough.”
Overcoming Niemann, already a winner this season in Adelaide, will be a challenge.
“He’s been playing great this season,” Johnson admitted. “It’s going to be a tough battle tomorrow.”
