Paju, Korea - Dreamland Golf Club in Baku, Azerbaijan, has appointed seasoned turf management professional Russell Wilson as its new Golf Course Superintendent to spearhead agronomy operations and elevate playing surface standards.
Wilson brings a decade of international experience to the Dye Design-designed 18-hole championship course, having spent the previous 10 years as Golf Course Superintendent at Ghala Golf Club in Oman. His career in international turf management began in Portugal, developing a reputation for implementing sustainable agronomic practices and delivering high-quality conditions.
Forming part of the wider Dreamland Resort near Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the venue is managed by IMG Golf Course Services and stands as one of the premier lifestyle and golf destinations in the Caucasus region.
“Dreamland has a fantastic golf course with enormous potential,” said Chris Brown, Senior Director of Operations at IMG. “Russell has demonstrated throughout his career that he possesses the technical knowledge, leadership, and passion required to develop high-performing agronomy teams and consistently deliver exceptional playing conditions.”
Wilson expressed enthusiasm for his new role following an initial visit to the country earlier this year. “After a brief visit to Azerbaijan in January, it was the warmth and hospitality of the Azerbaijani people that convinced me I couldn’t miss the opportunity to join Dreamland,” Wilson said. “I look forward to meeting the members on the course throughout the summer as our agronomy team works hard to fulfill the objectives needed to enhance the golf course further.”
