DP World Tour unveils high-stakes course record challenge with Nexo
A fresh incentive on the DP World Tour tees off this week with a $10,000 prize pot for any player who sets a course record – a sum that will roll over and grow until it’s claimed.
Las Vegas - The new initiative, known as the Course Record Presented by Nexo, launches at the Nexo Championship held August 7–10 at Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen, Scotland – a course as demanding as it is scenic. Any player who sets a new course record this week will not only take home the starting $10,000, but also receive NEXO Tokens worth $50,000.
Designed as the Tour’s first recurring bonus of its kind, the fund grows by $10,000 each week until a course record is posted. Once a new low score is confirmed at the end of a tournament, the prize resets to $10,000. Eligibility will be limited to tournaments played on a single course with at least 36 completed holes – and rounds played under preferred lies will not count.
Antoni Trenchev, Nexo Co-founder, said: “The Course Record marks the first recurring prize of its kind in golf, combining a performance-driven incentive with the reach and upward potential of digital assets. It reflects a milestone in DP World Tour’s and Nexo’s shared vision for innovation in professional golf.”
Ben Cowen, Chief Tournament and Operations Officer of the DP World Tour, added: “We’re always looking for new ways to celebrate and reward the incredible talent on the DP World Tour. The Course Record Presented by Nexo does just that. It will also further enhance the spectacle for our fans, with players tempted to take extra risks to shoot that coveted course record and claim the prize.”
This year has already seen seven course records set across the 2025 season – adding intrigue to each stop on the Race to Dubai calendar. At the Nexo Championship, multiple Tour winners are expected to contend, with the added lure of a cryptocurrency bonus intensifying the week’s drama.
Away from the leaderboard, the tournament is also expected to contribute significantly to the local economy, as Aberdeen and the surrounding region extend their peak tourist season. Golf tourism contributes roughly £300 million to Scotland each year, underlining the event’s wider impact.
Nexo’s expanding partnership with the Tour follows a recent multi-year agreement, making the digital assets firm an Official Marketing Partner and the Official Digital Wealth Platform of the DP World Tour through 2027.
