CRUSHERS' DECHAMBEAU SURGES TO TOP AS RIPPER GC BATTLE BLUE MONSTER
American star leads by two after punishing second round at LIV Golf Miami
Augusta, Georgia - Bryson DeChambeau drove his way to the top of the leaderboard at the LIV Golf Miami after a testing second round at the demanding Trump National Doral Blue Monster on Saturday.
DeChambeau, Crushers GC’s captain, recorded a composed 2-under 70 to move to 5-under overall, securing a two-shot advantage over Fireballs GC captain Sergio Garcia, whose patient 71 keeps him well in contention. Australia's Ripper GC leads the team event at 9-over par, driven largely by Lucas Herbert's exceptional second-round 69, the only score in the 60s amid daunting conditions.
“This course throws everything at you—it's a relentless test,” DeChambeau said. “The key is patience; every shot is critical, especially when the course gets this demanding.”
The notoriously tough Blue Monster course produced a field average of 75.111, making it the second hardest round in LIV Golf history, just behind Andalucia’s brutal opening day in 2024.
With Sunday's forecast predicting even stronger winds, DeChambeau remains optimistic: “Whatever tomorrow brings, I’m ready. This is exactly the kind of challenge you play golf for.”
