BlueOne Hosts Junior Golf’s Brightest Stars for 42nd Championship
Korea’s rising talents return to where legends began
Las Vegas - The 42nd Korea Junior Golf Championship, a prestigious national title event, tees off on July 23 at BlueOne Yongin Country Club, co-hosted by BlueOne and the Korea Golf Association (KGA). For three days, the par-72 West and Central courses in Yongin will test the country’s most promising juniors.
The event, held in stroke play over 54 holes, features boys and girls across three divisions—Under-12, Under-15 and Under-18. A total of 176 players have earned their place: 16 boys and 16 girls in the youngest division; 28 each in the middle tier; and 44 each in the Under-18 bracket. After 36 holes, only the top players will advance: nine boys and nine girls (U12), 15 of each gender (U15), and 24 boys and 24 girls (U18) will compete in the final round for the title.
In each category, the player with the lowest cumulative score over three rounds will be crowned champion. In the event of a tie, the countback method will determine the winner.
Last year’s Under-18 champions, Seunggu Kang (Namseong High School) and Sumin Oh (Shinseong High School), return in fine form. Kang recently won the Bear Creek Amateur Championship earlier this month. Oh claimed back-to-back national title wins with victory at last month’s Kang Min-goo Cup, the 49th Korean Women’s Amateur.
Their attempts to defend their titles will be watched closely, with both players among the standouts of a deep and competitive field.
Since its inception in 1983, the Korea Junior Golf Championship has discovered some of the country’s finest names—Se Ri Pak, Shin Ji-ae, So Yeon Ryu, Ha Na Jang, Na Yeon Choi, Hyo Joo Kim, Jeong-eun Lee6, Kyung-tae Kim, Sungjae Im and Siwoo Kim all lifted junior trophies on their way to international stardom.
BlueOne has supported the championship since 2018, continuing the legacy of its founder, former KGA president and SBS Media Group chairman Yoon Se-young. His vision for developing Korean golf lives on through the efforts of current CEO Jae-yeon Yoon, who contributes annually to KGA’s junior development fund.
KGA Executive Director Jaehyung Park paid tribute to the hosts: “We’re grateful to BlueOne for preparing an outstanding venue for the nation’s leading juniors. I look forward to seeing these talented players showcase the fruits of their dedication and hard work.”
