BlueOne Celebrates Korean Junior Success with Champions of Tomorrow
Las Vegas - The 42nd edition of the BlueOne Korean Junior Golf Championship concluded on 25 July with national title honours handed out to six emerging young players at BlueOne Yongin Country Club.
Jointly hosted by BlueOne and the Korea Golf Association (KGA), the three-day, 54-hole stroke play championship unfolded from 23 to 25 July on the club’s West and Central courses in Gyeonggi Province. The tournament served as a showcase of elite junior talent across three age divisions – under-12, under-15 and under-18.
In the flagship under-18 category, national team member Minhyuk Yoo (Year 2, Sogang High School) claimed the boys’ title, while national reserve squad player Haein Sung (Year 1, Bomun High School) lifted the girls’ trophy. Among the under-15s, Jay Son (Year 3, Donga Middle School), also a reserve squad member, prevailed in the boys’ section, with Kyuri Yoon (Year 3, Haksan Girls’ Middle School) emerging victorious on the girls’ side. In the youngest division, the under-12 titles went to Juwon Kang (Year 6, Cheongdeok Elementary School) and Haeun Jang (Year 6, Jeongam Elementary School).
“It’s always inspiring to witness the next generation of Korean golfers rise through a championship that has long held national significance,” said BlueOne CEO Bongho Kim, who attended the award ceremony alongside KGA Executive Director Jaehyung Park, SBS Golf CEO Sangkeun Lee and BlueOne Yongin General Manager Myungsoo Yang.
During the ceremony, BlueOne also presented an 80 million won development grant to the KGA to support ongoing growth in Korean golf. Since 2018, the company has backed the national junior title, continuing the golf legacy of Se-young Yoon, founder of Taeyoung and the SBS Media Group, who served two terms as KGA president.
A delayed telecast of the event is scheduled for 6:30pm KST on 18 August via SBS Golf.
