Barton Hills to Host 2026 U.S. Senior Women's Open
Augusta, Georgia - Historic Barton Hills Country Club in Ann Arbor, Michigan, will welcome the golfing elite as the United States Golf Association (USGA) announced today the club as host for the 8th U.S. Senior Women’s Open Championship, set for August 20-23, 2026.
The renowned Donald Ross-designed course, originally opened in 1922 and significantly restored in 2012 by Ron Pritchard, is expected to challenge top professional and amateur senior women golfers. Located 40 miles west of Detroit and just five miles from the University of Michigan, Barton Hills has an esteemed history of hosting prominent national events, including the 1998 U.S. Women's Amateur and the 2008 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur.
"We’re honoured and excited to host a championship of this calibre," said Mark Klinger, Barton Hills' general manager. "It's a testament to the club's rich tradition and our ongoing dedication to the game's highest standards."
The club’s impressive résumé includes Michigan state championships, affirming its capability to provide a fitting stage for the U.S. Senior Women’s Open. Previous champions of the event include legends such as Annika Sorenstam and Laura Davies.
Preparations at Barton Hills will now intensify as the club looks forward to creating more golfing history in 2026, with a field of 120 players set to battle for one of senior golf’s most prestigious titles.
