10th Bear Creek Cup Amateur Golf Championship to Kick Off in Pocheon on the 30th
Paju, Korea - The 10th Bear Creek Cup Amateur Golf Championship, organized by the Korea Golf Association (KGA), will be held for four days from June 30th to July 3rd at the Bear Course (Par 72) of Bear Creek Pocheon in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province.
Featuring around 88 male and 88 female players who rank at the top of the KGA ranking system—including national team members—the tournament will be contested in a 72-hole stroke play format. Matching the competitive environment of international major amateur championships, all rounds will be played under a strict walking-only policy. Following the completion of the second round, the field will be cut to the top 48 players each in the men’s and women’s divisions, who will advance to the third and final rounds to determine the champions.
The winners of both the men’s and women’s divisions will be awarded championship trophies, prizes, and scholarships. Official awards will be presented to the top seven finishers in each division. The champions will receive KGA ranking system points allocated for this event, with subsequent points distributed on a sliding scale to runner-ups and following positions.
Key participants in the men’s division include national team members Kang Seung-goo (18, Namsung High School 2nd year), Park Geon-woong (19, Korea National Sport University 1st year), Son Je-yi (16, Dongnae High School affiliated Broadcast & Correspondence High School 1st year), and Yoo Min-hyuk (18, Seogang High School 3rd year). The women’s division will showcase national team standouts such as Goo Min-ji (19, Korea National Sport University 1st year), Park Seo-jin (18, Seomun Girls’ High School 3rd year), and Yoon Kyu-ri (16, Haksan Girls’ High School 1st year).
Over its past nine editions, this championship has established itself as a premier breeding ground for Korea’s top-tier golfers. Distinguished alumni include prominent stars such as Park Min-ji (28), Hong Jung-min (24), Lim Hee-jeong (26), Lee Jeong-eun6 (30), Jang Eun-soo (28), Lee Jae-kyeong (27), and Oh Seung-taek (28).
To commemorate the landmark 10th anniversary of the tournament, the KGA will present a plaque of appreciation along with an official national team golf bag signed by the players to Bear Creek Golf Club. In return, Bear Creek Golf Club will continue its tradition of contributing 70 million KRW (Korean Won) in development funds at each edition to support the growth of Korean golf.
Bear Creek Golf Club has built an infrastructure that rivals international major amateur championships. Real-time, round-by-round leaderboards can be checked instantly through the official tournament website and LED screens installed across the venue. In addition, players will have access to various on-site services provided via a dedicated tour van stationed at the course. Last year, the venue also upgraded its amenities by establishing new practice greens and bunker practice areas.
“The Bear Creek Cup has truly served as a cradle that nurtures the future of Korean golf,” said Park Jae-hyung, Executive Director of the KGA. “We are delighted to present this plaque of appreciation to the host organization, which has provided unwavering support. Beyond their regular financial contributions for golf development, they have elevated this year’s event to the level of international major amateur championships by equipping the tournament with elite infrastructure, including a dedicated tour van and real-time leaderboard screens. We look forward to seeing our players fully showcase their talents in these world-class facilities while honoring the rich history and prestige of this championship.”
